Mr. Joseph Mucheru, Regional Lead for Google in Sub Saharan Africa, Nairobi
Joe has been charged with running and execution of Google strategy for Sub Saharan Africa since being hired in June 2007. Prior to joining Google he worked at Wananchi Online, a company he co-founded in 1999. He held various roles at the company including Chief Technology Officer, Strategy & Business Director and most recently Chief Executive Officer. He obtained his undergraduate degree (B Sc. (Hons)) in Economics & Computer Science at City University in London in 1993 and has since accumulated numerous certifications most recently bring the Stanford Executive Program from Stanford University in California. His outside interests other than being with his family, include work as a founding member of the Computer Security incidence Response Team of Kenya (CSIRT), he enjoys sports, traveling, music, films, politics, business and most recently sustainable organic farming!!
Lola Masha - Business Development Manager, Google
Lola Masha is responsible for all Google's strategic partnerships and business relationships with partners in Nigeria including mobile operators and content owners. She has worked on several deals and multi-party partnerships to help drive the adoption of the internet as part of everyday lives for Nigerians.
Juliet Ehimuan, Country Manager, Nigeria
Juliet Ehimuan’s experience spans international markets, particularly Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and the United States.
Ehimuan started her career at Shell Petroleum Development Company as Performance Monitoring and Quality Assurance Supervisor. Following that, she worked as Program Manager at Microsoft UK for six years, initially managing Strategic Projects for MSN EMEA. She received the Microsoft ‘Ship-IT’ award for successfully launching the MSN online subscription business in Europe. She later became Business Process Manager for the MSN Global Sales and Marketing Organisation.
She left Microsoft in 2005 to start SI Consulting Ltd UK, providing collaborative programs that connect African Business leaders with their global counterparts. In the last two years, Ehimuan worked as General Manager, Strategic Business Units at Chams Plc leading four major lines of business, and key nationwide government projects.
Marcus Foster, Mobile Product Manager, London
Marcus has been working on Mobile products at Google for the last 5 years. Over this time he has been responsible for a range of projects, including Gmail for mobile, Google Sync, Google Voice for mobile and most recently Voice Search on Android devices. Before joining Google, Marcus spent 7 years at Yahoo!, also working on mobile projects, such as Yahoo! Go.
He holds MSc degrees in Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and in Communications from the Hochschule der Kuenste Berlin.
Paa Kwesi Imbeah, Partner Solutions Organization, London
Paa Kwesi helps to craft and implement technology solutions for large Google partnerships in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He has worked on a large number of integrations involving Google Maps, Google AdSense, Google Product Search and Google Book Search. He currently works on partner solutions for Google Chrome, Google Toolbar, iGoogle, Picasa and Google Earth. Paa Kwesi likes exploring his neighbourhood on his bicycle.
Mike Springer, Software Engineer, Zürich
Mike is a Software Engineer at Google for 5.5 years, joining the company as part of the acquisition of @Last Software, makers of SketchUp. Following the acquisition he was the lead developer for the free version of SketchUp, then transitioned to be the lead developer for the project to put 3D buildings into Google Earth. He then worked for 18 months on the Google Groups Discussions project before moving to Zürich, Switzerland 3 months ago to join the Emerging Markets team. In his free time, he enjoys a wide range of activities, including cooking (Italian and Mexican, primarily), traveling, woodworking and just about anything else.
Luisella Mazza, Search Quality Senior Analyst, Dublin
Luisella is a Search Quality Senior Analyst who joined Google in 2005 to support search quality efforts in the European languages. She is also the Google Guide on the Italian webmaster help group. Luisella has a degree in Foreign Languages (French, Spanish and Catalan) from the University of Bologna, Italy and a degree in Technology of Computing from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland.
Eve Andersson, Partnership Management, London
Amazing trainer of all things Google for business and webmasters - everything from Analytics to advertising. Eve is based in London, managing Distribution partnerships for Google. Previously at Google, she worked in Strategy and Sales Operations in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and she managed Commerce & Analytics partnerships in Mountain View, California. Prior to joining Google, Eve was Founder and VP Operations of ArsDigita Corporation, a web software company that was acquired by Red Hat. She also spent one year as Visiting Professor of Computer Science at Universidad Galileo in Guatemala City. Eve has co-authored two books: Software Engineering for Internet Applications (MIT Press, 2006) and Early Adopter VoiceXML (Wrox Press, 2001). She has Engineering degrees from Caltech and U.C. Berkeley and an MBA in Finance from Wharton.
Aneto Okonkwo, Product Manager, Zurich
Aneto leads many of Google’s SMS products and Africa projects. He previously worked on Google's data storage infrastructure and Google Trends. As part of the infrastructure team, Aneto helped launch hundreds of features across various Google products. Aneto is an avid football fan.
Nick Heller, New Business Development Manager, London
Nick Heller is responsible for New Business Development across EMEA at Google. He is based in Zurich, Switzerland and is focused on new product incubation and exploratory efforts in technology, meta-data licensing, strategic partnerships, special projects, and alternative distribution for existing and new business initiatives. Nick has a rich history of working within the media industry, primarily across mobile, television and online. Prior to joining Google, he worked for MTV Networks UK & Ireland, where he created the digital strategy and led new cross platform social networking initiatives. In 2006, he published a paper on the growth of mobile advertising, and continues to be a passionate advocate of the mobile medium. Earlier this year, the Global Telecoms Business publication selected Nick as one of the top-40-under-40 in the industry.
Obianuju Ndili, Software Engineer.
Uju works on Storage Infrastructure at Google, Mountain View. As part of that team, she helps preserve Google's data. In the past she has worked on applications like Google calendar, toolbar and partner start pages. She has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, from Santa Clara University, California.
Natalia Marmasse, Tech Lead / Manager, Israel
Natalia Marmasse has been an engineer at Google, working on Mobile applications, since 2006. She holds a PhD from MIT, and has worked on wearable and mobile computing for over two decades. Previously she was a researcher at IBM. She is currently very interested in Emerging Markets.
Bridgette Sexton, Program Manager, Developer and Tech Outreach – Africa
Bridgette is the program manager for developer relations and technology outreach across Sub Saharan Africa based out of Ghana. She works to enable programmers and start ups to utilize Google’s developer and business tools for the purpose of driving innovation online. Before joining the Africa team full time, Bridgette was a sales strategy consultant focused on moving advertising agencies and media houses into the digital age. She has a diverse background from jump starting a microfinance organization in Peru to studying in Thailand. Bridgette is a passionate individual, avid runner and adventure traveler.
Bob Aman, Developer Programs Engineer, Social Web, Mountain View
Bob works on the Developer Relations team at Google in Mountain View. He loves contributing to open source, open web standards, and generally making the web a friendlier, more useful place for everybody. Bob was once saved from a volcanic mishap by a bad case of malaria. True story.
Richard Ngamita, Data Analyst & Developer Outreach, Kenya
Ngamita joined Google working on data in 2009. Prior to Google. He was living and working as a developer in Accra, Ghana. Before that, he co-founded a few startups in Uganda e.g HotSpotME & SMS2KYAKALE.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Makerere University.
Ola Fagbamigbe, Enterprise Deployment Project Manager, UK
Ola Fagbamigbe is an Enterprise Deployment Project Manager with Google. Since starting at Google in June 2010, Ola has managed the deployment of Google Apps for businesses across Europe including Elecnor, a big Engineering company based in Spain and Ocado, the foremost internet grocery retailer in the UK.
Prior to Google, Ola worked for IBM, University of London, British Sky Broadcasting, and MTN Nigeria. He holds an MBA degree from Cranfield University and he is an active member of the Project Management Institute in the UK.
Tom Hofmann, Software Developer
I am a Software Engineer currently working on Google Trader, a classifieds platform launched in Ghana last December. Before joining Google in October 2010, I worked as a committer on the Eclipse open-source project. In my free time I enjoy hiking or climbing in the mountains, reading, and choir singing. With my wife, I cycled from Switzerland all the way to Ghana in 2008.
Awo Addo, Business Development Associate, Accra
Awo is the newest addition to the Google Ghana team. She is focused on building strategic partnerships to get more people and more local content online in Ghana and West/Central Africa more broadly. Prior to Google, Awo was a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group
Megan Goddard, Senior Geo Strategist, California
Megan has been with google for 4.5 years and has worked on meaningful projects such as Google Earth Outreach’s Crisis in Darfur and Google Ocean. She is a Senior Geo Data Analyst and is a team lead /manager in the Geo department. Megan has a PhD in Natural and Water Resources and a Masters in Environmental Engineering. Her professional background is in environmental science, GIS and mapping, and teaching. One of Megan’s greatest joys is travel, and she has been fortunate enough to travel to far reaches of the world and some of her favorite spots are on the continent of Africa. She still has a long way to go, and needs to hit South America and Antarctica.
Obum Ekeke, Talent & Outreach Programs, London
Obum is responsible for establishing long term relationships with students and faculties in universities across Sub Saharan Africa. Through sponsorships, research awards & grants, partnerships, competitions; Obum works to build Google advocates in the University community and grow awareness of Google products. He is currently launching the Student Ambassador program in universities across Sub Saharan Africa.
Obum, who joined Google in 2007, previously worked with Google's global Sales Technical Operations organization to provide scalable product solutions and support to direct and online sales.
Lanre Aina, Business Analyst, Nigeria.
Lanre currently works out of the Google Nigeria office as a Business Analyst and he is focused on driving online local content especially within Nigeria's Media & Entertainment space. Prior to joining Google, Lanre worked in the communication/telecommunication industry as a systems engineer with General Electric's Advanced Communications Unit in Massachusetts and as a technical consultant with Telecom Africa, New York. He is passionate about social enterprise and in his spare time he volunteers his skills supporting peer mentorship and youth-focused career advisory programs in Lagos.
